Jeffery Meyer Conducts in Russia, Philippines This SummerContributed by Erik Kibelsbeck on 06/02/09 Jeffery Meyer, conductor of the Ithaca College Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, recently appeared in the Hermitage Theatre with the St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic in the opening concert of the 14th International Musical Olympus Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia. The performance featured young international prize winners as soloists, including the principal bassoon of the Kirov Orchestra. Other orchestras represented in the festival include the Mariinsky Orchestra and St. Petersburg Philharmonic. St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic Website Later in the summer he will appear for the second time in Manilla, the Philippines, with the FILharmoniKA Orchestra in an all-American program supported by the local U.S. Embassy. The orchestra will perform works by Copland, Barber, Bernstein, and Dello Joio. |
