With the help of Apogee Telecom, the IC wireless network has rapidly expanded over the summer. ITS and Apogee are pleased to announce that on Friday August 21, 2009, Apogee turned on the new student wireless network (IC-Students) in all residential halls! Students are now encouraged to use IC-Students instead of ICAirnet or ICAirnet-Secure. On-campus and off-campus students can sign up for a free Apogee account by going to Apogee's website or by calling 1-877-478-8893 . The IC-Students wireless network is also available for students in the academic and administrative buildings that have wireless. Over the summer, wireless was added to the Fitness Center, Alumni Hall and the College Circle Community Center. For a list of all wireless location see this campus map. IC faculty and staff are encouraged to use ICAirnet-Secure for wireless needs. ITS will continue to work to enable wireless in the remaining academic and administrative buildings over the next year. I'd second that...getting wireless is a huge improvement, but it's barely coming
in for me on floor 5 of East Tower, sometimes not working at all. I'm using Ethernet now with no problems. Hopefully Apogee's service will be more consistent than last year...I paid for Gold and got about a fourth of what I paid for most of the time. Wireless Updates Comment from

Yeah, our whole floor here in Clarke Hall has had a lot of problems. My
roommate and I bought ethernet cables and haven't really had much problem since, but I still think it's ridiciulous to have wireless if it doesn't work properly. Wireless Updates Comment from

I agree with all of the above. The wireless is very unreliable at the moment. Though I have authorized my account I still sometimes am asked to authorize again and I'm disabled from accessing the internet aside from the apogee log-in page. Also the signal varies a lot. Sometimes it's very strong and sometimes it's too weak to access.

Any fixes coming soon? The idea of Wifi is great but only if it works properly.
