The C-SPAN Civics Bus will roll into Ithaca on Tuesday, September 1, making stops on the Ithaca College campus and at the Tompkins County Public Library. The 45-foot mobile, multimedia demonstration center and TV production unit is currently on a cross-country tour of colleges and universities, libraries, state capitals, and other community venues to share C-SPAN's education and civic resources.

The bus will be parked behind the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and at the Tompkins County Public Library at 101 East Green Street from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Visitors are invited to tour the bus and learn about the many resources C-SPAN offers, including C-SPAN Classroom, a free membership service for educators with downloadable video clips; the C-SPAN video library; and C-SPAN's television coverage of the nation's capital.

Aboard the bus will be C-SPAN marketing representative Sarah Parker, a 1998 Ithaca College graduate. "We've been all over the country with the C-SPAN Civics Bus, but I'm especially looking forward to bringing it back to South Hill," says Parker.

Currently celebrating 30 years as Washington's political network of record, C-SPAN was created by America's cable companies as a public service in 1979. C-SPAN produces three public affairs television networks, C-SPAN Radio, and a video-rich website. Its programs can be seen in over 95 million cable and satellite households.

The local visits are sponsored by Time Warner Cable.
