Asma Barlas, professor and director of the Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity, gave the keynote address at the fourth annual Ramadan Iftar, organized by Turning Point for Women and Families in New York on August 29.

Turning Point is a nongovernmental organization that provides services to victims of domestic abuse. It hosts annual events at the Queens Museum.
