Scott Hamula, associate professor and director of the integrated marketing communications program, proposed and moderated a panel, "Working Social Media before It Works You: Best Practices for Advertising and Public Relations," at the 2009 Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) convention in Boston in August.

Jack Powers, assistant professor in the Department of Television-Radio, also presented a paper at the conference, titled "Depictions of Minority Characters on Popular Children's Cable Programs: A Content Analysis."
