South Hill is experiencing rapid growth of an invasive species known as Japanese Stilt-Grass. Come help us eliminate this grass to help our natural lands.

This week there will be two organized Japanese Stilt-Grass pulls to help stop the spread of Japanese Stilt-Grass on Ithaca College natural lands. Leann Kanda from Biology will be meeting volunteers by the water tank near the observatory on Friday at 1:00 and on Sunday at 1:00 to show you what to do and where to begin pulling. Garbage bags will be provided. Thank you in advance for your help in keeping our South Hill lands healthy!

Japanese Stilt-Grass is native to southeast Asia. It is an invasive species that is capable of out-competing North American native species where it has been introduced. Action must be taken before the seed has set to successfully eliminate some of the population. Japanese Stilt-Grass was discovered on South Hill last year and has spread significantly over the last few months.
