Why you need to attend Speed Networking (sponsored by Career Services):Contributed by Kristin LiBritz on 09/24/09 Networking – the process of establishing a mutually beneficial relationship with another person - is key to success in a job or internship search. While your network includes your roommates, advisors and teachers, among others, being able to network effectively takes practice. Career Services is pleased to announce an opportunity for you to practice your communication and networking skills with local professionals. Join us for Speed Networking, where you can learn about the many paths that one's career may take and about life after college. Speed Networking is set up to allow for multiple short pairings with other attendees so that you'll have the benefit of talking with people, minus the stress of a standard mingling event. Sample starter questions will be provided and you can also attend the optional workshop that will take place during check-in. Open to Ithaca College and Cornell University students, this free event will be held at 5:30pm on Tuesday, September 29 at the Holiday Inn (check-in starts at 5:00). Pre-registration in the Office of Career Services is required. For further details, click here. Speed Networking is sponsored by Ithaca College, Cornell University, The Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce and the Society for Human Resource Management of Tompkins County. |
