Please join me in congratulating Terry Martinez, Director for Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs, on her recent appointment as the new Dean of Community Development and Multicultural Affairs/Associate Dean of Student Affairs at Columbia University. For the past six years Terry has done an outstanding job of promoting student engagement and multicultural affairs across the college. Terry’s last day at Ithaca College will be Friday, October 16th.

In an effort to build upon the work under Terry’s leadership and in keeping with the practice of reviewing and assessing department operational efficiencies, please note that Michelle Lenhart, Malinda Smith and Erica Shockley have agreed to assume a team leadership approach for Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs until a full assessment can be completed.  During this time questions regarding student leadership, student government and clubs and organizations should be directed to Michelle; questions regarding the MLK scholars and multicultural programming should be directed to Malinda and questions regarding orientation and new student programs should be directed to Erica.

Please join us in offering our best wishes and thanking Terry for her contributions to the College on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 from 4:00-5:30 p.m. in the Klingenstein Lounge. If you would like to make a contribution towards our gift to Terry, please drop off your donation to Patti Banfield, 325 Egbert Hall no later than Friday, October 2nd.
