Traffic Alert:  Construction crews will be working in the intersection of East State Street / Martin Luther King Jr. Street, Seneca Street and Green Street this week to complete asphalt paving.

Traffic patterns may change during the week as construction activities are underway. Be attentive to flaggers, signs and barricades. Large vehicles such as trucks and buses should pay special attention to changing pavement conditions. Drivers are reminded to heed flashing red signals and stop signs.

In order to complete asphalt paving in the intersection, traffic will be diverted around the “wrap-around” in order to get from Green Street to Seneca Street. Flaggers will assist drivers in negotiating the sharp turn. Please be aware of downhill traffic.

Although the project schedule has been compromised by the slow progress of the brick installation, all participants are striving to achieve substantial completion of the project by the contract completion date of October 14, 2009  

Included in this road and utility construction project was a total reconstruction of the road section, sanitary sewer replacement, storm sewer repair, water main repair, decorative street lighting, partial sidewalk replacement, decorative sidewalk, and new tree plantings.
