Want to learn more about the School of the Americas Watch movement? Local activists presenting on non-violent activism for social change!

co sponsored by Student Leadership Institute

WED OCT 28 7-9pm

Friends 309

The purpose of nonviolence training is for participants to form a common understanding of the use of nonviolence. It gives a forum to share ideas about nonviolence, fears and feelings. It allows people to meet and build solidarity with each other and provides an opportunity to form affinity groups. Often it is used as a preparation for action and gives people a chance to learn about an action, its tone and legal ramifications. Through role-playing, people learn what to expect from police, officials, other people in the action, and themselves. The training will include sessions on the history and theory of nonviolence, School of Americas Watch nonviolence pledge and will explain what occurs during the annual vigil in November 20-22.
