"Drop Dead Demonstration"

Contributed by Tiffany Cheng on 10/26/09

Are only the lives you see the ones that matter?

Because of a repressive government, the people of North Korea live in extreme poverty and a constant state of fear. It is illegal for them to leave the country, and those that try face the risk of capture and being put into concentration camps. With their families. Millions have died.

To  make a statement about the lack of human rights in North Korea, Asian Culture Club and IC Human Rights are teaming up for a "drop dead" demonstration.

Stop by the academic quad (between the Campus Center and the Library) between 11 and 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29th to "drop dead." When you hear the whistle, fall down where you are. When you hear the whistle again, get back up and walk around. Repeat.

We need banner holders and flyer passer-outers! If you are interested in one of these positions, please contact Yeana Hyun at yhyun1@ithaca.edu.
