Several topics of particular interest to faculty members will be offered in the ITS Technology Learning Center throughout November and December. Faculty members who want to learn more about useful computing tools for their work are encouraged to register instantly online for our faculty-focused computing training topics:

Audacity is industry-standard sound editing software. In our "Audacity" workshop, you will learn how to edit your sound files for your multimedia productions.

"Blackboard Basics" training offers instructors an introduction to using Blackboard, Ithaca College's central course management system. Using a practice course for hands-on learning, you will acquire the fundamental skills needed to build and manage your course in the Blackboard system.

Podcasts are on-demand, mobile, episodic digital media files (either audio or video).  "Ithaca College on iTunes U" is a free way to distribute podcasts open to all faculty and official IC organizations. The "Introduction to Podcasting and iTunes U" workshop provides an overview of podcasting and iTunes U, including examples of different types of podcasts, creative uses for podcasts in higher education, and tools used to create podcasts.

"Web Profile Manager: Faculty Web Sites" training will show you how to publish your official web site at Ithaca College. Faculty profiles typically include a photo, descriptions of teaching and research interests, a curriculum vitae, photo galleries, and lists of published works. Easy to build and update, faculty web profiles also offer tools that encourage student engagement and facilitate outreach, such as news and blogs.

ITS offers workshops every week on a variety of topics in the Technology Learning Center (101 Friends Hall) at no charge to all faculty, staff, and students. To see the full ITS Training Schedule online at any time, go to http://ithaca.edu/computing/tlc/schedule

Feedback on ITS training programs is strongly encouraged. If you have a special request or some new ideas, please contact Sharon Beltaine by calling 607-274-1045 or by sending e-mail to sbeltaine@ithaca.edu.

See you in class!
