Symposium on Physics and Archaeology November 20 and 21, 2009

You are invited to attend a symposium on Physics and Archaeology November 20 and 21, 2009. The symposium will be at Ithaca College and is part of the New York State Section of the American Physical Society biannual symposium series. This will prove to be an engaging symposium by bringing together physicists and archaeologists from New York State to discuss a range of topics to include: dendrochronology, analysis of paintings, ground-penetrating radar, and other intersections between physics and archaeology.

There will be a contributed poster session for students (the posters can be on any topic and do not need to match the theme of the symposium) on Friday, Nov 20 from 5 - 6:30 pm followed by a banquet and a keynote talk by Professor Ken Kvamme. Professor Kvamme is from the University of Arkansas and will speak about "Anthropological and Archaeological Insights from Geophysical Evidence: Two Decades of Hunting."

To learn more about the symposium and register for participation please visit www.nyssaps.org. To encourage undergraduate participation the NYSS-APS waives registration fees and offers a reduced banquet cost to undergraduate student participants. Ithaca College and the NYSS-APS look forward to seeing you at the symposium.
