Ithaca College

The editor of the influential news and opinion magazine, National Review, will give a free public presentation at Ithaca College on Wednesday, November 18. Rich Lowry will present a conservative’s perspective on independent media and the current state of journalism at 7:30 p.m. in Park Hall Auditorium.

Considered one of the top contemporary political writers and analysts, Lowry advocates for the tenets of conservatism from his platforms as an author, syndicated columnist, television pundit and blogger. He joined “National Review” — which was founded by the conservative icon William F. Buckley — in 1992 after finishing second in a young writers contest sponsored by the magazine. He was named editor in 1997.

Lowry is the author of “Legacy: Paying the Price for the Clinton Years” as well as the spy novel “Banquo’s Ghosts.” He has written for the “New York Times,” “Reader’s Digest,” “Washington Post” and “Wall Street Journal” and served as a guest commentator on CNN, Fox News, PBS and MSNBC.

Lowry’s visit is sponsored by the Park Center for Independent Media (PCIM). Based in the Roy H. Park School of Communications, the PCIM was launched in 2008 as a national center for the study of media outlets that create and distribute content outside traditional corporate systems and news organizations.
