Using outbred village dogs to understand dog domestication historyContributed by Scott Stull on 11/28/09
Nearly all high-throughput genetic research on dogs has been carried out on breed dogs, but village dogs hold unique evolutionary clues to dog origins. My ongoing research involves using dense SNP genotyping arrays in populations of indigenous, outbred dogs to understand dog evolutionary history. I am also utilizing additional genetic and behavioral approaches to give new insights into the domestication process in this species.
