Michelle Bernhart, president of True Blue Communications LLC, will speak on "Brand, Reputation and Responsible Business: Leveraging Best Practices to Communicate Sustainability" on Thursday, December 3rd at 7:00pm in the Sgrecci Room 111 in the Park Center for Business and Sustainable Enterprise.

This event is jointly sponsored by the department of Strategic Communication and Communication Management and Design program in the Roy H. Park School of Communications, and the Sustainability at Ithaca program.

Michelle Bernhart helps organizations strengthen sustainability performance, achieve strategic objectives, enhance brand, and manage risk through credible and engaging communications. She has more than 20 years of experience leading strategic communications and engagement programs. True Blue Communications LLC has helped organizations establish comprehensive sustainability improvement programs, led reporting efforts, and developed training and outreach for global employee engagement.

Bernhart helps organizations understand two things:
   1) sustainability is a key business driver and strategic advantage, and
   2) credible, transparent communications are essential.

In her presentation, Bernhart will explore current best practices in sustainability communications and explore how to:

  • Use the fundamental principles of sustainability communications to build trust and engagement
  • Apply social norms to deliver behavior-changing communications 
  • Distinguish between genuine claims and greenwashing
  • Develop the competencies and connections to launch a career that makes a difference

This event is free and open to the public.
