The Society of Professional Journalists is hosting its final event of the semester at 7 pm, Tuesday, Dec. 8, in Park 220. Join us for a presentation from Scott Erickson, marketing&law professor and chair of the department in the School of Business, who will discuss the government stewardship of online information. In this digital age, it's so important for journalists to know where we stand in terms of the government ownership of what we think of as free, unlimited and unrestricted information, what the deal is with the Internet and shield law, and where Obama stands on all of this. It'll be a very interesting take on the freedom of information from a non-journalist. (Please note the program is Tuesday -- and not Monday, our usual meeting time. But same time and location.) Also that evenining, we'll hold elections for all the officer positions for the 2010 year. The only requirement of candidacy is to be a paid and registered SPJ member. Students interested in running for an officer position should contact SPJ with questions at IthacaSPJ@gmail.com. |
