Student Leaders, the 2010 Census is coming this spring and your community needs your help!
Once every 10 years, the Census Bureau conducts a complete count of everyone living in the United States. In order to get every student counted -- once, and in the right place -- we are asking you to join the Census on Campus initiative to help educate and mobilize your fellow college and university students.
Why is this important to you?
- Census data collected in 2010 affects you directly for the next 10 years!
- Billions of dollars in federal funding, important research, community services, and congressional representation are at stake.
- Volunteering is a resume-booster! Gain valuable experience to add to your resume.
How can you and your organization participate?
- Plan 2010 Census awareness-raising events and activities for the spring semester.
- Distribute census materials through your organization, club, or student government/union, and at athletic or campus-wide events.
- Post Census 2010 signs or banners around campus.
- Write about the census through student-run media or social networking sites, like Facebook or Twitter.
