The Ithaca College Debate Team finishes in first place at Ohio State

On December 4 and 5 the Ithaca College Debate Team competed in a tournament at Ohio State University. The tournament was one of the largest in the nation and the biggest each of the Mississippi this semester.  Jessica Mortellaro (13) finished in first place in the novice division, defeating Western Kentucky on a 3-0 decision.  Caleb McWhorter (13) went as far the semifinals after finishing the preliminary debates with a 3-1 record.  Brian Rank (12) turned in an impressive 2-2 prelim record – this was Brian’s first tournament.  Jessica was recognized as the top speaker in the novice division – this is the second tournament in a row where she has been acknowledged as the best speaker.  The team takes a hiatus during the holiday break but will have a busy schedule in the spring.
