Joseph Murtagh, Writing, won the Jeffrey E. Smith Editors' Prize 
from the Missouri Review, in the category of nonfiction, for an 
essay he wrote entitled "A Hive of Mysterious Danger."  The essay 
recounts his experience as an instructor at Auburn Correctional 
Facility, a maximum security prison about an hour's drive north of 
Ithaca.  The reward for the prize is publication  in the spring 
issue of the Missouri Review, $5000, and a public reading in 
Columbia, Missouri in March.
