Why not volunteer to be a counselor at the Muscular Dystrophy Association Summer Camp in Rush, NY!

This one week long residential camp (June 27th-July 2nd, 2010) at the Rotary Sunshine Campus in Rush, New York is looking for volunteer counselors to work one-on-one with its participants; children ages 6-18 who have been diagnosed with neuromuscular disease.

Your role as a volunteer counselor would involve:

  • providing care and supervision
  • executing lifts and transfers
  • participating in outdoor sports (including swimming, boating, fishing, baseball, golf, etc.), arts and crafts and talent shows
  • maintain an orderly and safe environment in the cabin.

In order to be eligible for this amazing one week experience, you must be 16 years or older and able to reside at the camp for the week. You will be required to attend an orientation to learn about the physical needs of assigned campers so that you can help each participant meet the goals established by the camp for camper development.

If you have a desire to care for others, an ability to relate to peers and work as part of a team, as well as enthusiasm, a sense of humor, patience, and self-control, then this is the perfect opportunity for you!
