On February 25, as part of the Enduring Masters program, Oscar winning actress Olympia Dukakis, will visit the IC campus. She will be giving a one hour question and answer session for the entire campus community from 3-4 pm at Hoerner Theatre, Dillingham Center.

Olympia Dukakis - actress, director, producer, teacher, activist and most recently, author with her best-selling memoir Ask Me Again Tomorrow, will be visiting Ithaca College on February 25, 2010.  As a continuation of the Enduring Masters Program, which promotes mentorships by established artists for aspiring students in the arts, Dukakis will hold a closed, invitation only, three hour master class for Theater Arts BA performance students and invited guests at Clark Theater from 11-2; in addition to the question and answer session for the entire campus community at Hoerner Theatre from 3-4. 

Dukakis visit is sponsored by the Department of Theater Arts, The Dean’s Office of the School of Humanities and Sciences, the Ithaca College Tri-Fund (Office of President, Office of Provost and Division of Student Affairs and Campus Life) and a matching Enduring Masters grant from the Linden Center For Creativity and Aging. The matching grant was awarded to Cynthia Henderson, Associate Professor of Theatre Arts, who led the effort to bring the renowned actress to campus.

For her work in the Norman Jewison film MOONSTRUCK Olympia Dukakis received an Academy Award in the Best Supporting Actress category, the New York Film Critics Award, the Los Angeles Film Critics Award and the Golden Globe Award.

Dukakis made her London debut in 1999 on stage at the Royal National Theatre in Martin Sherman’s one-woman play, ROSE, to rave reviews.  Dukakis has appeared in over 130 productions Off-Broadway and regionally.  Dukakis taught acting in the graduate school at New York University for fifteen years and currently teaches master classes at various universities and colleges throughout the country.
