Newfangled Press:
Leonard Lair
"Admittedly, the challenge to fill seventeen minutes with greatness is easier than cramming it on to a proper album. No matter, La Snacks have put together six excellent tracks of warped but tuneful indie rock which hark back to a time when this kind of music filled college radio airwaves in the 1990’s."
Bigtakerover Magazine
"Perhaps it's the way Segovia delivers his clever, wry lyrics in a vaguely detached style that oddly resembles Ray Davies, that sets them apart. Whatever the reason, their unpredictability and elusiveness is part of what makes them so darn good."

Track review from Pfork:
A song recorded in an apartment comes with a certain set of expectations, not all of which are flattering. But even though "Weekdays", a track off Red Pens' debut album, Reasons, was indeed recorded at home, you'd never guess unless you were closely inspecting the liner notes. Howard W. Hamilton III and Laura Bennett convey a certain warmth and intimacy in their arrangement, but refuse to let things to get too comfortable. Bennett's Hubley-esque backing beat is slack but never flaccid, and Hamilton's grainy recording is purposely no-frills but definitely not amateur. Most surprising though is the fully amplified guitar, the wall-rattling feedback providing a much-needed antidote for Hamilton's housebound malaise. If the neighbors weren't deaf to begin with, they certainly are now.

from Austinsound.net
"The unlikely sound of Transmography has been perplexing and mesmerizing Austin for the past year, unpacking an industrial thwamp of experimental rock that coheres in abstract rhythms and explosive instrumental freak-outs. The duo of James Evans and Michael Frazier combine for a cacophonic sweep that is almost unimaginable for simply two players, and to watch them trade guitar, drums, bass, synth and electronic duties throughout their cathartic live sets is almost overwhelming. Last year Transmography released their debut, Polydactyly through the artist collective 8088, which unleashed equal parts ambient meditations and furiously pounding syncopations of metal scrapes and junk-punk percussive anthems. The duo is currently recording new material for release later in 2008."
