IC Faculty Colloquium Thursday noon: ASSIGNING ENHANCED PODCASTS AS COURSE FINAL PROJECT.Contributed by Tatiana Patrone on 03/08/10 James Pfrehm (Modern Languages and Literatures) presents his work this Thursday (03/11) at 12:10-1:00 in Cayuga Lake Room (Campus Center). Everyone is welcome to attend. SUMMARY: For the first time in my teaching career, I required students in a 300-level course to develop enhanced podcasts as their final project. I will share the process, the positive outcomes, and obstacles associated with the assignment. In particular, I wish to argue that now more than ever, when we require students to integrate technology into their class-work, we as instructors must emphasize traditional scholarly methods of research, organization, presentation, argumentation, and media-friendliness. IC COLLOQUIM SERIES: This series is part of the Ithaca Faculty Commons, the emerging model that links all of the faculty development activities of the college through coordination, resource-sharing, and networking. The Faculty Commons will have an online environment as well as a strong face to face center. The Faculty Colloquia will be audio recorded for the college’s iTunesU, and follow up discussion groups will continue in myHome. FURTHER SCHEDULE: 4/01 – Cyndy Scheibe, Psychology and Culture & Communication. Media Literacy Integrated into College Courses For more information about the series, please contact Tatiana Patrone or Susanne Morgan. Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Laurie Wasik in the Office of the Provost. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible. |
