Gilman study abroad scholarship: informational meetingContributed by Rachel Gould on 02/24/10 There will be an informational meeting about the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship on Tuesday, March 2, from 12:10-1:00 in Hill Center 57. The Gilman International Scholarship Program offers grants for U.S. citizen undergraduate students of limited financial means to pursue academic studies abroad. The Gilman Scholarship is open to undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens and who wish to study abroad. Students may apply for programs worldwide, though preference will be given to applications for programs outside of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. To be eligible you must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant. The application deadline is April 6 for programs that begin in the summer or fall of 2010. The Gilman Scholarship Program seeks to diversify the kinds of students who study abroad and the countries and regions where they go. Specifically, the Gilman Program offers scholarships for students who have been traditionally underrepresented in education abroad. Award recipients are chosen by a competitive selection process and must use the award to defray eligible study abroad costs. These costs include program tuition, room and board, books, local transportation, insurance and international airfare. The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program is open to all U.S. citizen undergraduates, in good academic standing, who meet the criteria listed below:
