Nine PT Faculty Served as Presenters/Moderators/Officers at Combined Sections Meeting of the American Physical Therapy Association.Contributed by Michael A Pagliarulo on 02/24/10
The CSM focuses on programming designed by all 18 of APTA's specialty sections and this event attracted over 7,700 registrants. Nine faculty members served as presenters, panelists, moderators, or as an officer of one of the sections. Three additional faculty members attended programming. The following is a brief list of the presentations conducted by the faculty. The diversity of the topics and venues demonstrates the breadth and depth of faculty expertise.
Kathleen Buccieri presented a poster titled, How Does a Clinical Instructor Develop Skills as an Expert Clinical Instructor, and a platform presentation titled, Coming Full Circle. Evaluating the Role of the Director of Clinical Education. Tiffany Hilton was an invited member of a panel discussion on Bridging Science and Clinical Practice: You can be that Scientist! Jeff Houck participated in a presentation with Deborah Nawoczenski (see below) titled, How Do Foot Orthotics Really Work? Hilary Greenberger conducted a presentation titled, Physical Therapy Treatment Selection in Patients with Chronic Low Back Pain. Christine McNamara served as the Aquatics Section Program Chair and was responsible for scheduling all of the educational and business programming for the Section. Ernie Nalette participated as a presenter in a full-day preconference workshop titled, Teaching Ethics and Professionalism in Rehabilitation: An Interprofessional Workshop. Deborah Nawoczenski participated in two poster presentations: 1) Effect Of The Morton’s Extension Carbon Footplate On Pain, Function And Plantar Loading Patterns In Patients With Hallux Rigidus, and 2) Case Analysis: Biomechanical Analysis Of Circuit Resistance Training For Shoulder Health In An Individual With Paraplegia. She also participated in two presentations: 1) Comparison Of In Vivo Multisegment Foot Kinematics During A Heel Raise Task In Patients With Midfoot Arthritis And Matched Control Subjects, and 2) see Houck presentation above. Andrew Robinson was a moderator for educational sessions in the Section on Clinical Electrophysiology and Wound Management. Cynthia Zablotny was one of three presenters in a two-day preconference course titled, Neurologic Practice Essentials: Laying the Foundation for Expert Practice. She was highlighted in a feature article in the CSM Daily News (see photo).
