Distinguished Speaker in the Humanities Series Presents Martha NussbaumContributed by Lynn Tordella on 03/03/10 Noted political philosopher Martha Nussbaum will present “Same-Sex Marriage and Constitutional Law: Beyond the Politics of Disgust” at Ithaca College on Tuesday, March 9 in Emerson Suites at 7:30pm. Professor Nussbaum is an American philosopher with a particular interest in ancient Greek and Roman philosophy, political philosophy, and ethics. She is the Ernst Freund Distinguished Service Professor of Law and Ethics, Philosophy Department, Law School and Divinity School and holds associate appointments in the classics and political science departments at the University of Chicago. She is also a member of the Committee on Southern Asian Studies and a board member of the Human Rights Program. She is the author of The Fragility of Goodness, Cultivating Humanity, Sex and Social Justice, and Hiding from Humanity. Her lecture, "Same-Sex Marriage and Constitutional Law: Beyond the Politics of Disgust" will be held in Emerson Suites on Tuesday, March 9, at 7:30pm. There will be a book signing immediately after the event in the Emerson Lounge. There is a selection of books available for sale in the Ithaca College Bookstore.
