“Dancing with the Stars,” an event in which five couples consisting of faculty and IC Ballroom team members compete, will take place on Saturday, April 10, at 7 p.m in Ben Light Gymnasium. After training for the past 10 weeks, the couples will perform two dances each: one Ballroom routine, and one Latin number. Faculty were nominated by students to participate in the event.

Sponsored by IC Ballroom and the school of Health Sciences and Human Performance, the show is open to the Ithaca College community and the public. There is a $3 suggested donation, with free entry for senior citizens aged 60 and over. Attendees will receive a ballot to vote for their favorite couple. Additional votes can be purchased for $1 each.

While the couples are showing off their moves, judges will be rating their performances. Ithaca College President Tom Rochon, IC dance instructor Michelle Cole and IC Ballroom member Romaine Isaacs ’10 will rate each couple's performances from 1 to 10. The couple with the highest combined score will be crowned overall winners of the night, while the couple with the highest number of audience votes will win People’s Choice Award. The show will also feature performances from IC Muevete, IC Ballroom, The South Hill trio, an IC student jazz group, and members of the Cornell Ballroom team.

“I thought this would be a fun event — pairing Ithaca College professors with talented dancers from the IC Ballroom team,” said Katie Crutchfield ’10, president of IC Ballroom. “It’s an opportunity to see their professors in a different light, and a chance for the faculty members to learn how to dance. This event will showcase both faculty and student talent – so, really, everyone is a star.”
