Guido Santi (CPMA) to Screen His Documentary at Cornell Cinema on Friday, April 23Contributed by Melissa Gattine on 04/20/10
This touching documentary is the story of the passionate three-decade relationship between British writer Christopher Isherwood (whose Berlin Stories was the basis for the film Cabaret and whose A Single Man was recently adapted into a film of the same name starring Colin Firth that will screen at Cornell Cinema from April 23 - 26) and American portrait painter Don Bachardy, thirty years his junior. The film premiered at the Telluride Film festival in 2008, it was nominated in the best documentary section for a GLAAD Award and a Gotham Award. It won the Miami GLTB Film Festival, the Spokane Film Festival and the Sulmona Film Festival. Born in Italy, Guido Santi started his career writing and directing short films, and collaborating with "Ipotesi Cinema," the group of young filmmakers coordinated by award-winning director Ermanno Olmi (The Tree of Wooden Clogs). After receiving his Master's degree in Film Production at USC, Guido worked producing and directing TV specials and documentaries. He was also a lecturer in Film Aesthetics and History of Cinema at the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita-California.
