I am delighted to announce that three-time Grammy winner Branford Marsalis has recently agreed to be a plenary session speaker for the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR), which will be held at Ithaca College in March 2011.

The 2011 NCUR Conference is expected to bring more than 2,000 students and faculty to the IC campus in an event that highlights student scholarship in a wide variety of disciplines. The three-day event will feature student seminars, performances, and poster presentations, as well as plenary speakers and special events.

This year’s conference was recently held at the University of Montana. More than 30 Ithaca students and faculty attended the conference, including 21 IC students who were invited to present sessions or posters on research they have conducted with IC faculty.

Associate Provost Carol Henderson will serve as Conference Chair for the 2011 NCUR conference, and will be assisted by a steering committee of faculty, staff, and students, which is already working hard on the preparations. Information on the conference can be found at https://www.ithaca.edu/ncur2011/.
