Chip Gagnon (Politics) organized and participated in a workshop at Cornell University's Peace Studies Program on April 23 and 24, entitled "The Missionary Position: Processes of ideological entrepreneurship in post conflict societies." This workshop was the second in a series, part of Chip's project on "Interdisciplinary perspectives on post-conflict studies."

The recent workshop, which brought together scholars and practitioners from the fields of political science, anthropology, sociology, theology, geography, and law, focused on processes of missionization (both religious and secular) and memorialization.

In addition to being organizer, Chip presented on the topic "Democracy Promotion as Missionization."

Assistant Professor of Politics Kelly Dietz also participated as a discussant for a panel on memorialization, and Associate Professor of Politics Naeem Inayatullah served as metadiscussant for the workshop.
