Windows XP instructor stations in eClassrooms will work a little bit differently for the 2010-2011 academic year.

  • No log in is required because the computer will "auto login."
  • Computer start up times are significantly faster.
  • Since no log in is required, your Novell fileshares or "G drive" will not be accessible unless you first click on the little Red N, located on the bottom task bar and login with your Novell user name and password.

You will start seeing this change now and by fall start-up all Windows instructor stations will function this way; this is only a temporary change for the 2010-2011 academic year.

This adjustment is being made as part of the NSrA User Migration project to move the campus community to a new, enhanced computer network. These computers will still be using the current network but, by making this change now, ITS will be able to minimize impacts to the instructional environment during the academic year.

This change only applies to Windows eClassroom instructor stations; Macs and student workstations in labs are not affected.

If you are curious and want to see what this means for you, a sample workstation is available in CET, 102 Job Hall. Stop on by or as always, contact the Helpdesk if you have any questions.
