ITS is pleased to announce that introductory Blackboard training sessions for instructors will be offered starting Monday, July 12. Blackboard is Ithaca College's central course management system.

To register for Blackboard training, follow the link below and choose one of the dates listed. All training sessions will take place in the Technology Learning Center, located in room 101 Friends Hall.

Blackboard Introduction Summer 2010 Training Schedule

Using a practice course for hands-on learning, participants will become familiar with the basic tools needed to build and manage courses in Blackboard, such as:

  • activating your course and publishing your syllabus
  • navigating within the Build, Teach, and Student views
  • adding, using, and removing course management tools, 
  • creating, uploading, and organizing course content
  • using communication tools (announcements, discussion boards)
  • basics of using Gradebook to manage grades
  • distributing and managing course assignments
  • course design elements

ITS offers computing workshops every week on a variety of topics in the Technology Learning Center (101 Friends Hall) at no charge to all faculty, staff, and students. Support for Persons with Disabilities: The ITS Technology Learning Center (TLC) in room 101 Friends Hall is accessible by wheelchair and includes a workstation that can be raised or lowered for optimal computer access. Support for visual and hearing impairments is also available.
