Speech Communication Professor and Alumna Publish StudyContributed by Laurie Arliss on 08/26/10
The pair of researchers conducted the study at Ithaca College prior to Ms. Lewis’s graduation. The resultant article is titled, “Perceptions of swearing in the work setting: An expectancy violations theory perspective.” A conference paper related to the study earned a top paper award at the Eastern Communication Conference in 2009. Ms. Lewis currently works for IBM in the New York City Area. She puts her communication skills to work in the office of the Vice President of Market Segment Management. Dr. Johnson continues to conduct noteworthy research with Ithaca College’s undergraduate scholars. The Johnson-Lewis article will be her second published work co-authored with a student. She has also co-authored a number of conference papers with IC undergraduates. Congratulations to both IC scholars.
