On Wednesday (9/8) the College’s web team will release some minor revisions to the College’s home page (www.ithaca.edu) that will streamline the presentation and help our site visitors navigate to and find the content they need more efficiently. We made these changes because, in the four years since we redesigned the page, we have made incremental changes to accommodate new kinds of content such as blogs, social media, and news features. As we added these important pieces over time, the page became cluttered in appearance and more difficult to use. After reviewing data on the way our visitors were browsing and navigating the page, we saw opportunities to optimize and focus the news and features and enable users to get to their destination. Simultaneously, we streamlined the presentation so that the new page is cleaner, loads faster, and consolidates the featured content into a single, easy-to-browse stream. The new page also features a new, consolidated search box, which will return results from the general website, the directory of IC people, and from the majors database. We’re excited about the new look, and hope you will be too.
