"Screaming Queens” tells the story of the first known act of collective, violent resistance to the social oppression of LGBT people in the United States. The event took place in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood in 1966, three years before the famous riot at the Stonewall Inn in New York. Sponsored by the Ithaca College Center for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Education, Outreach, and Services, the film series this year explores the theme "History and Heroes of the LGBT Movement." The series will present a total of six films during the fall semester. Additional screenings will take place during the spring. All are free and open to the public. All showings begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be held in Textor 103. For a complete schedule visit the events section of the LGBT Center website or contact the LGBT Center for a fall film series postcard.
