Sustainability Café on October 18th will explore "Common Ground between Scientific and Traditional Ecological Knowledge."Contributed by Marian Brown on 10/11/10
Robin Wall Kimmerer directs the Center for Native Peoples and the Environment at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry which has as its mission to create programs that draw on the wisdom of both indigenous and scientific knowledge in support of our shared goals of environmental sustainability. Dr. Kimmerer is active in efforts to broaden access to environmental science training for Native students, and to introduce the benefits of traditional ecological knowledge to the scientific community, in a way that respects and protects indigenous knowledge.
