October 5 (7-8pm) - Business 103 with Kurt Komaromi

Sales and Sales Promotion: Communicating with Different Personalities

This workshop is a brief lecture on communication style in order to better understand the best way to approach a sale. Many start their marketing careers in sales and, even if they do not, it is important that a student of the world knows how to sell an idea. There are four different communication styles: directive, reflective, emotive, and supportive. In this workshop you will learn which style you are and how adapt according to that style.

 

October 6 (7-8) - Business 103 with John Fracchia

Professional Development: Perfecting the Resume and Cover Letter

At this workshop you will learn the necessary skills to develop and create an effective resume. All vital aspects in creating a professional cover letter and resume will be discussed, as well as tips and skills to get you the job you want. Feel free to bring a draft of your resume, or if not, come prepared with past experiences and jobs!

 

October 7 (7-8) - Business 104 with Heather Linton

Marketing: Marketing the Outside World 

Heather Linton, a Professor of Marketing in the School of Business, has been involved in the marketing industry for a number of years. For close to four years, Ms. Linton worked for Aruba Convention Bureau as a Marketing Manager, and is currently working for Palm Beach. In this workshop, students will learn the benefits and tips to marketing for international aspects, working with large budgets (of at least $1million), creating annual business and communication plans, and handling a number of roles within a business that deals explicitly with international trade.

 

October 8 (4-5) - Park Lab 275 with Adam Peruta

Basic Photoshop: Tools to Make You Hire-able

This is an introduction lecture to the basics of photo editing in Photoshop in order to edit photos and flyers. Photoshop skills are a great asset to have an résumé when going into IMC and Marketing careers. This lecture will include basic tools, layers, work areas and transform functions.
