STUDENT WELLNESS TIP of the Week: from the Center for Health PromotionContributed by Nancy Reynolds on 10/05/10
Healthy eating habits are essential to a wellness lifestyle. To maintain a healthy diet, eat fewer processed foods and more whole grains, limit sugar and salt, and stay hydrated (but not by drinking soda and high-sugar energy drinks - stick to water). Learning how to interpret the nutrition labels on foods can help you determine which foods give you more "bang" for your "buck." Try to eat small, frequent meals throughout the day to maintain your energy level for optimal performance in the gym and in the classroom. For more tips on eating smart, visit the Center for Health Promotion website's section, "Nutrition and Healthy Eating" at www.ithaca.edu/sacl/healthpromotion/nutrition/.
