In a February '09 campus-wide survey, two thirds of IC students reported having been in the presence of a student whose intoxication level concerned them. Only 9% of students reported calling for medical assistance in such situations. Do you know the signs of alcohol poisoning?

Look for one or more of the following:

Inability to be roused with loud shouting or vigorous shaking.

Mental confusion.

Low body temperature.

Weak, slow, or very rapid pulse.

Pale or bluish skin.

Slow or irregular breathing.

Excessive vomiting.

Seizures.

The IC MAP (Medical Amnesty Policy) can protect you from college judicial sanctions if you call for help. 607-274-3333 will immediately connect you to Public Safety emergency dispatch.

Save a life. When in doubt, make the call!
