Ithaca College PRSSA to Host ‘We Are PR’ Networking Night at La Tourelle

Ithaca, Nov. 2—The Ithaca College chapter of PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America) will be hosting their annual networking night with local professionals at La Tourelle Resort and Spa from 6-8:30 PM. Laurie Linn of Communique Design & Marketing, and Professors Michelle Berry, and Jack Powers will be talking with students about how to network effectively, find internships, and make lasting connections in the workforce.

Kayla Inanc ’12, IC PRSSA President, is excited for We Are PR. “I hope that students can come in and interact with the highlighted speakers who have diverse backgrounds and are experts in their field. I want this to be a portal into the PR world and industry. We want to see all the possibilities associated with our chosen major.”

This year’s fresh approach will be substantially different from years’ past. “Last year’s event was more traditional with one speaker talking the entire event. This year will be more interactive as we have one key speaker and two distinguished speakers,” said Inanc. “One activity will be ‘speed networking,’ where attendees will have one-on-one face time with professionals,” continued Inanc. The local Mansfield University chapter of PRSSA has also been invited to We Are PR.

Tickets will be available for purchase in the Park and Business Schools and Campus Center. Tabling in the Park School will be October 6-8, 11-3, and 18-22. Tabling in the Business School will be October 6-8 and 18-22. Tabling in Campus Center (Outside Grand Central Café) will be October 11-13. All tables will be open from 10-3PM. Student tickets will cost $18 for members, $20 for non-members, and $22 for faculty and walk-ins. Cash and check payments will be accepted. Checks must be made out to Ithaca College with “IC PRSSA” on the memo line.

IC PRSSA hosts a networking night every year with different career targets and speakers. This organization meets once a week at 7PM in Park Hall, classroom 279.
