I have wondered about Feng Shui and in doing so, have come to the conclusion that it falls into the same realm of pseudoscience occupied by astrology, séances, phrenology, palm reading, psychics, and any number of other paranormal or super natural beliefs practiced by hucksters with the sole purpose of fleecing those they try to convert.

These types of “practices” are a pretense of the legitimate in what is nothing but false. It bothers me that our HR department in academic institution supports and presents these types of programs as real solutions to actual problems when there exists a plethora of other programs that provide plausible and verifiable results.

Coming to a conclusion is different from experiencing something first hand. This—a place of higher education—is the perfect environment to explore new things. What works for one person may not work for someone else. How will we know if we don’t give it a try? I am grateful to our HR department for providing these learning opportunities.
