President Rochon will open Family Weekend with a State of the Campus Address on Friday, from 4:30 – 5:30 in the Klingenstein Lounge. He will be sharing the IC20/20 plan with our guests as well as relaying other information about College developments throughout the past year. Friday evening, family members can choose from 3 exciting events: The One World Concert which features the Ithaca College International Club’s celebration of diversity throughout the world, the Ithaca College Theatre production of Chicago, or the School of Music concert which will feature the Concert Band and Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Saturday will be an exciting day for the College as both Family Weekend guests and guests of the Admission Open House event will be joining the campus. Here is a list of some of the selected Family Weekend events for Saturday. The Department of Sport Management and Media Careers in Sport Symposium opens the day in Textor 101 at 8:30 am and features panelists and speakers representing career opportunities in various sectors of the sport industry. Our parent keynote address on Saturday at 9:00 am in the Park auditorium features Tish Rabe ‘73. Ms. Rabe is a best-selling children’s author. One highlight of her impressive career is being selected by the Dr. Seuss estate to write the new line of Cat in the Hat books. She also performs as a singer/narrator for Disney storybook recordings. Her son John will graduate from the School of Music in 2011. Saturday also features a variety of academic displays by the Schools, and on topics such as Study Abroad opportunities and the 21st Century library. The Family Weekend luncheon will be on Saturday, October 30 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Terrace Dining Hall. We welcome and strongly encourage faculty and staff to attend this luncheon. There is no cost to IC faculty and staff who wish to attend, just show up and we’ll provide you with a ticket. You will be treated to music provided by a student jazz quartet, as well as by the faculty and staff choir IC VoICes. After the Family Weekend Luncheon, family members have much to do during the afternoon including the Ithaca vs. Utica football game, a men’s and women’s swimming meet vs. RPI, a matinee performance of Chicago, and of course the highlight of Family Weekend – The Student Performance Showcase. This year’s Student Performance Showcase will feature Voicestream, On the Floor, IC Circus, Fifes and Drums of Ithaca, IC Muevete, Ithacapella, Spit That, Premium Blend, Amani Gospel Singers, and the IC Dance Team! It’s an event not to be missed and the only opportunity all year to see this variety of student performances in one place! Saturday evening family members will be entertained by the School of Music Concert featuring the Women’s Chorale, Madrigal Singers, Chorus and Choir; followed by the IC After Dark Halloween Party! The programming continues on Sunday with Catholic Mass offered by the Catholic chaplain, the ninth annual First-Year Student Cabaret, and the final School of Music Concert featuring the Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble.
