Encourage Positive Mental Health Attitudes Among StudentsContributed by LeBron Rankins on 10/26/10 This is Stigma Stomper week at IC and efforts are being made to communicate the message: Counseling...it's a smart and healthy thing to do! You can encourage positive mental health attitudes among the students you teach or with whom you work by wearing a simple Stigma Stomper button for a couple of days. Cost-free buttons and Help Make IC Stigma Free cards are available to students, staff and faculty in the Campus Center Lobby between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, at the Active Minds table. Buttons and cards are also available at Counseling and Psychological Services anytime the office is open and while supplies last. Wear a button. Ask your students what it means. Encourage a 3 minute dialogue...never underestimate the power of your voice to reduce the stigma that keeps students from getting mental health care. |
