The NAMS minor may be particularly valuable to students pursuing careers in communications, education, multicultural outreach, human services, medicine, and the social sciences. Every May during the 2 week session Service Learning in Native America is offered (ANTH 14500) where students learn about Native culture, help out, and even visit with buffalo on the Onondaga Nation.

In the spring NAMS minor courses include

  • Cultural Anthropology (ANTH 10400, 7 sections)
  • North American Archaeology (ANTH 27500)
  • Introduction to World Religions (RLST 10500, 2 sections)
  • Political Justice (POLT 12300, 2 sections)
  • Race & Ethnicity (SOCI 20700, 2 sections)
  • Hollywood and the American Film (CNPH 21400)
  • Social Aspect of Sport (SPMM 29500, 2 sections).

We give an additional welcome to Hollie Kulago, the ANTH-EDUC Diversity Pre-Doctoral Fellow who will offer:

  •  Teaching, Learning and Education in the Multicultural Southwest (ANTH/EDUC 29002).

Other courses with Native content can also be considered for the minor. For a full listing of courses (in documents folder), events, and news,  go to https://www.ithaca.edu/hs/minors/native_american/ or contact Brooke Hansen (Anthropology) kbhansen@ithaca.edu or 274-3326.
