Ithaca College

SGA has been working with the office of Student Affairs and Campus Life as well as the South Hill Civic Association and we would like to inform the Ithaca College student body of some of our recent discussions.

There have been many complaints recently about students traveling in groups down South Hill and making a lot of noise, vandalizing residents’ property, and other actions that disturb the community. Although you may not feel as though you are being disruptive, we would like to emphasize that there are families (many with young children and/or elderly residents), as well as peers living in the South Hill community. We are asking you as fellow students to act responsibly and respectfully. The Ithaca Police Department and the Sheriff will continue enforcing local ordinances. While the number of tickets issued and arrests have decreased from last year, the number of complaints from our neighbors has risen significantly.

As your peers and representatives, we want your college years to be the best possible, but we want you to be safe and respectful. Also, we do not want anyone to face legal consequences as a result of violating local laws and ordinances, so we are asking you to be proactive and to think about those you may be disturbing.

We are launching a campaign to bring awareness to the issues both permanent residents and off campus students have been facing. Remember that you too are a part of this neighborhood community.
