Patricia Zimmermann was the invited closing roundtable speaker at the Global Aesthetics: Intersecting Culture, Theory, Practice symposium at the Society for the Humanities at Cornell University, October 15-16, 2010.

Zimmermann's talk and summary of conference proceedings was entitled "Global Flows and Errant Turbulences in Arts and New Media Monsoons."

Sponsored by the Mellon Central New York Humanities Corridor, the Humanist Foundation, Diacritics and the Institute for Compariative Modernities, the symposium featured theorists and artists working across the arts, video, new media and installation from the United States, Mexico, Europe and Asia.

Zimmermann is professor in the department of Cinema, Photography and Media Arts in the Roy H. Park School of Communication and codirector of the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival in the Division of Interdisciplinary and International Studies.
