Dan Isbell, Assistant Professor of Music Education, is selected to present recent research at the American Educational Research Association's annual meeting in April.

"Keeping Instruments Out of the Attic: The Campus Band Experiences of the Non-Music Major" is the title of a collaborative study Dr. Isbell conducted with Dr. Ann Marie Stanley from the Eastman School of Music. The researchers set out to find what keeps some people involved in formal music-making at the college level when many others pack their instruments away after high school graduation. The findings highlight the nature of continued participation in music and the expectations of non-music majors in a performing ensemble.   Participants in this study were the members of the 2009-10 Ithaca College Campus Band, which Dr. Isbell conducts.
