Stephen Tropiano, Los Angeles Program director and associate professor in the Department of Television-Radio, has been appointed by John Shaffner, president of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, to co-chair the Governors Awards Committee for the 2011 Emmys. 

The Governors Award is presented each year to one or more individuals, companies, or organizations for outstanding achievement in the arts and sciences or management of television.  Tropiano is also currently serving on the selection committee for the 4th Annual “Television Academy Honors,” which recognizes “television with a conscience”---programming that inspires, informs, motivates, and even has the power to change people’s lives.
