Leon W. Couch III, Assistant Professor of Music at Ithaca College, presented an hour-long lecture entitled "Affekt, Musical Figures, and Keys" at the University of Rochester's Eastman School of Music on January 24, 2011.

Much of the presentation promoted and drew upon a recent publication Playing Dieterich Buxtehude's Works Rhetorically (which got a positive book review) with practical application to performance, but the content extended beyond that original research into narrative and theology.

Approximate 40 people were present: doctoral & masters students, undergraduates, and faculty.  It was well received and many questions and interchanges occurred, displaying the changing nature and emerging attitudes of this branch of 17th-c German musicology, analysis, and performance.
